Bondi to Coogee Coastal Walk

Shall we go for a swim?

We live constantly in cities, surrounded by concrete, but sometimes what we really need to do is an "urban detox"! And after such a trip, being in touch with nature to balance our energies is the motto and nothing better for that than the sea! How about going to the beach and experiencing the Tasman Sea? :)

Here we go again... crossing the financial center of the city, we can take Circular Quay as our starting point.

From here the simplest route is to take the B333 bus, which is direct (further ahead we'll show you more transport options). After roughly a 40 minutes ride we are in another world!

Bondi Beach. When it comes to beaches in Sydney, this is the beach! Almost everyone has seen this beach in a movie or series. It is a very charismatic and peculiar beach, with the famous lifeguards and many surfers, yes, without a doubt a must visit! Take some time for a nice stroll along the sand while admiring all the beauty around you, including the stunning bodies that pass by there hahahaha. Here we can find a little bit of everything for all tastes, from the wonderful sand and warm water, surfing, the typical pubs, markets, boutique shops, restaurants, scenic trails! It is no wonder that this is considered one of the most famous beaches in all of Australia!

Let's get wet?! Wonderful...

Bondi Icebergs Pool, right next to the beach are these spectacular pools! Open all year round, they are also one of the most popular swimming pools in the city. The waves when a little stronger splash into the main pool, renewing the waters. A one of a kind experience! Oh, and if you don't bring a towel "no worries" you can rent one right here! Here we also find some associated services such as a cafe and sauna.

We took a short break here and after an energizing bath, you have to eat something to continue the adventure through Australian lands. Ok ok, that wasn't exactly what you might tag as a super healthy meal... oh well, it was one of those little sins that tastes really good hahahaha. We went to Little L Chicken & Burguers and we have to agree that it was very good!

Bondi to Coogee Coastal Walk. Let's go for a walk?!
As, by now, you are already getting to know us a little bit more, you know that no trip with us could miss our fantastic walks!! Starting right next to the iceberg pools, this 6km hike is one of the must do walks in these parts. The view of the gigantic cliffs over the ocean is magnificent.

The route is in great condition and passes through several beautiful beaches, one of the first we found, in the bay of Mackenzies, is the Tamarama Beach. By the way, whoever wants to go for a swim here, be very careful! It is important to strictly follow the indications of lifeguards. This beach is one of the ones that has more rescues in the region!!!

We then made our way, through the coastline, to the popular Bronte Beach. This step to Bronte is about 2.5 km long and takes approximately 1 to 1.5 hours. Don't forget to break it up with some nice photo stops. Take some time to feel the sand and enjoy the views!

For those who want to continue the trail, as was our case, it's very simple, just keep moving on! ;) It's another 3.5 km of path to help digest all that lunch ahaha. Look at this coastline vistas!

Along the way you pass right next to the Waverley Cemetery, one of the world's more scenic cemeteries. Its location is at least curious, right in front of the sea... maybe a good place for the final rest...

Clovelly Beach

This whole iconic walk is stunning, with great cosy beaches, cliff tops to explore and always with the vast Pacific Ocean as a backdrop.

Tip: bring light clothes, comfortable shoes, a hat, water, sunscreen and don't forget your swimwear, because it is mandatory to go for a swim in this wonderful sea! ;) Drinking fountains are available at all beaches.

As already mentioned, the transport network around Sydney is excellent, so we recommend that both going to Bondi and returning from Coogee be made by public transport. The bus in this case is really the ideal choice.
The fact that we are always connected to the internet helps a lot, and thanks to Google Maps we know right away which is the best transport to take, where's the location of the nearest bus stop and even see by the minute how long will it take for the next bus, train or metro to arrive! A really precious help! Fantastic!! (Android appiOS app)

How to get there: Taking Circular Quay as our starting point, the best option is to to take the B333 bus which is direct. If there's not much traffic the journey should take around 40 minutes. If it is rush hour, it is best to take the train to Bondi Junction and then, at Stand A, take one of the B333 or B380 buses to Bondi Beach. (PS: do use Google Maps, it really helps and it also has an offline option ;)).
On the way back, you can take the B373/374 or B372 bus to Central Station and then take a train from there to your destination. And as you already know, you can and should use your Opal card, which works on all these transports!

Let's keep moving?!
To be continued...
